Get Your Taxi Business Booming With These Marketing Tips

Taxi services are in good demand despite more people being able to afford cars and the existence of public transport systems. One of the main reasons is that cabs are easy to find unlike public buses which have designated routes. Taxis can also travel out of the way and though fares are more expensive, people with little time to waste prefer them over other options.

If you\’re running a private cab business but aren\’t making as much as you hoped for, it\’s time to make people aware of your service. Unlike public cabs which ply the streets and are visible in taxi stands, private taxis are called for. This means they\’re less visible and need to be marketed to be known.

Clever advertising can make a business stand out in the midst of other marketing ideas. You don\’t have to spend a fortune either. Here are a few ways to get your business known far and wide.

Print and post flyers

Flyers or pamphlets are small to medium size paper advertisements that can be handed out to passing pedestrians or posted in strategic locations. They\’re less expensive to print than posters but can contain essential information, graphics etc.

The key to advertising through flyers is to offer something special. For example, the top right can quote discounted prices in large, bold letters to make people stop and notice. Have the business logo, name and contact details of the service. Avoid piling too much detail as passersby spend only an average of a few seconds reading flyers.

Placement: Post flyers in high traffic areas like colleges, grocery stores, medical offices etc. Seek permission from the authorities before posting them and don\’t neglect to replace worn out and torn flyers every 10 days or so.

Hand out business cards

Give every customer and client a business card. Cards are smaller than flyers and should only contain the name of your service, business logo and contact details. People are less likely to discard business cards as they\’re easy to slip into wallets and are accorded more importance.

Mix and match offers and services

Don\’t have a one-size-fits-all rate. When offering discounts, do so for frequent customers. You could have a card or coupon printed which they can show or hand in when they use your service. In addition, offer lower rates for college students and senior citizens as they\’re more in need of cabs than working people in their 30s to 50s.

Try to offer different types of services like airport pickup and drop, a limo service for business travelers and special occasions, paratransit for disabled persons (you\’ll need a larger vehicle like a van and ramps installed for wheelchairs) and restaurant/hotel service. Upscale restaurants and hotels usually have a small taxi service but mid-range establishments generally don\’t. Approach them directly and ask if they\’d like to do business. The same goes for bars and clubs.

Deliver excellent service

Drivers should be trained, licensed, insured and bonded. Impressions make a big impact on how customers perceive businesses and a taxi service is no different. Ensure that drivers dress appropriately, know how to address customers, drive smoothly within limits, and don\’t drink or smoke inside the cab (though they should be accommodating of a customer\’s smoking habit unless you have a no-smoking policy).

Startup businesses can find themselves in a sea of established companies offering competitive prices. Servicing a small area and slowly expanding once cash flow comes in is a wiser option than starting big.

It is very easy to find a taxi within the shortest possible time. All you need is to make a phone call to a company that provides taxi services. Looking for excellent
